Planning a wedding is already stressful enough… Planning a wedding during the Coronavirus (also known as COVID-19) pandemic makes it a million times more stressful. I FEEL YOU.
With these lockdowns and travel restrictions wedding plans are getting changed every day for thousands of couples around the world. Whether you’re planning an elopement because your larger wedding got cancelled or postponed, or perhaps because it’s the type of day you and your partner have always dreamed…
I’m here to help you plan your elopement during the coronavirus pandemic. I’ve compiled a list of how to plan your elopement in the Dominican Republic step by step to help make this process easier for you. I hope that this can ease your stress during this crazy time.
Lately I have heard from some brides that they have to cancel their wedding due to several reasons: like both (brides and groom) lost their jobs, or majority of the wedding guests had cancelled their trips and afraid of leaving the country, etc.
I know it's stressful and freaking out, but here are some advices I can give you :
1. POSTPONE, DON'T CANCEL.
Why? Well, at least because You’ve already paid your deposits and likely made other payments. And it would be just hurt not to get your deposits back, since most vendors have insured themselves for such cases.
Rescheduling wedding day for next year will be much easier. Your wedding will take place but just a little later and not in such a stressful environment (sometimes you just need to wait it out).
2. MAKE A ZOOM
Many online video conferencing services are free of charges such as Zoom and Google Hangouts which you can utilize to host live-streams video sessions for your loved ones who can’t be physically present at your wedding. Can you imagine that? Yeah, we live in a modern world!
3. KEEP IT SMALL AND SIMPLE.
Leave all the guests behind.
You can escape just two of you! I understand yes, you were planning your wedding all days long during weeks and months, BUT according our World situation why don't you deserve your big day anyway? I mean, in any life situation there is ALWAYS a way out.
So, why this 'way out' can't be just for two of you?! Right?
At the same time, you will spend significantly less money in everything. And in any case, you can always go home to celebrate the rest of the celebration with your family and friends and if they REALLY LOVE YOU they will understand your decision.
4.TALK TO YOUR VENDORS.
If you are in a financial crisis, contact your vendors such as photographers, florists, wedding planner etc. and you will see what they can do to help you with your specific situation at this time. Believe me they are ready and prepared to have this conversation.
5. OUTSIDE THE RESORT WEDDING.
Hire a professional wedding planner.
If you are in the budget you can also find out about local wedding planners. I mean there are AWESOME creative people out there, who can manage your small intimate wedding outside the resort with less price. Just figure out it! Or ask me, I'm happy to help and I have a huge chest of tips ;)
here are some to consider
REMEMBER! YOU ARE BOTH TOGETHER!
You are both in this together! This hard time will pass but the memory of your day will stay with you forever! So find a way to celebrate and enjoy it!
